Reflecting his visionary leadership and remarkable contribution to Nigeria’s financial sector, Mr. Olusegun Alebiosu, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of FirstBank of Nigeria Limited, has been named “Outstanding Banker of the Year (Legacy Banks)” at the MARKETING EDGE Awards 2025.

For Alebiosu, banking transcends numbers; it is about impact, innovation, and integrity. His passion for progress and people has earned him this well-deserved recognition, underscoring his transformative leadership and dedication to sustaining FirstBank’s legacy as a trusted financial institution.
With over 28 years of diverse experience in banking and financial services, Alebiosu possesses deep expertise in credit risk management, corporate and commercial banking, project and trade finance, as well as operations across strategic sectors such as oil and gas, agriculture, and transportation.
He began his banking career in 1991 with Ecobank and has since held senior leadership positions across leading Nigerian financial institutions. A distinguished scholar, Alebiosu is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He holds degrees in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management, International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos, and Development Studies from the London School of Economics.
He also completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and an active member of several professional bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), Alebiosu combines academic excellence with practical leadership experience, driving transformative growth in Nigeria’s banking sector.
Under his leadership, FirstBank has deepened its legacy of over 131 years, steering initiatives that enhance customer experience, advance digital transformation, and promote financial inclusion across Nigeria and beyond.
