However, she stressed that innovation must go hand in hand with responsible communication, transparency, respect for consumers and adherence to established regulatory standards. According to her, as operators introduce new platforms and explore innovative ways to engage audiences, they must ensure that their marketing communications remain appropriate, truthful and responsible, particularly within sectors such as sports betting and digital entertainment where consumer protection remains essential.

Furthermore, Akpan emphasised the importance of promoting responsible sports betting and entertainment, urging industry players to recognise that the success of digital innovation depends not only on the strength of their products but also on their commitment to safeguarding consumers and maintaining public confidence.

She reiterated that ARCON remains committed to ensuring responsible advertising across Nigeria’s marketing communications landscape, stressing that promotional activities across platforms must comply with applicable regulations and uphold the standards governing advertising practice.

Consequently, she urged operators to approach advertising with a clear understanding of their obligations, ensuring that their messages do not mislead consumers, exploit vulnerable audiences or undermine responsible participation in betting and entertainment activities.

Her remarks reinforce the Council’s position that innovation within Nigeria’s advertising and marketing communications industry must operate within an appropriate regulatory framework, allowing businesses to explore new opportunities while protecting consumers and sustaining confidence in the sector.

Akpan also commended the organisers for the initiative and successful launch, expressing the Council’s goodwill towards the platform as it begins operations. She wished the company sustainable growth while encouraging it to maintain the standards required to operate responsibly within Nigeria’s regulated advertising environment.

Its community focused approach enables users to share predictions, exchange betting tips and engage with other sports enthusiasts while accessing betting markets.

The unveiling of Perliks Defination and Cubana White Lion as brand ambassadors further underscores the company’s efforts to build connections with sports betting audiences through familiar personalities and community driven engagement.

Nevertheless, ARCON’s message at the launch highlighted a broader responsibility for the platform and other operators in the sector: commercial ambition and technological innovation must be matched by responsible marketing, transparency and compliance with relevant regulations.

As Nigeria’s digital entertainment market continues to expand, the Council’s position signals the importance of ensuring that new platforms pursue growth without losing sight of consumer protection and the standards governing advertising communications
