Media agency executives task Rockcity FM on IT, programmes at interactive session

Media agencies in Nigeria have passed a vote of confidence on Rockcity FM, following the success of the station’s launch in Lagos.

Tagged ‘Meet and Greet,’ the initiative was designed to educate and enlighten media agencies on the services and programmes of the high-flying radio station.

Most of the agency executives, who attended the event, which held on August 15, 2017, at the Jevinik Restaurant, commended that management of the Rockcity FM for the event, adding that it has enabled them to recognize the face behind the organisation.

Mr. Pius Negbenose of Brand Eye Media, told journalists that the event would create a healthy relationship between the media agencies and the Abeokuta, Ogun State-based radio station, founded by former Thisday Editor, Niran Malaolu. Negbenose added that he was glad for an organization as Rockcity FM to see the need to come closer home to the people who plan and buy in the media, so as to render to them qualitative services that would satisfy their clients.

He said: “I applaud Rockcity and I hope that they will continue this way and it won’t just be for this period only. They must find a way to make it a regular meeting, whether quarterly or half yearly or annually, so that we can see them, know them and raise whatever issues we have with their station and bring it to the fore for resolution. Whatever issues they have with media agencies, they also can let us know.”

Speaking in the same vein, Vivian Obuh, of MediaFuse said the event enabled her to establish a closer relationship with the operators of Rockcity FM, adding that such was important for future dealings with the station with regards to media planning and buying and businesses purposes.

“We will prefer to do business directly with the station because of the rates and of course, we will get more discounts. We intend to buy independent programmes on their station, but from now on, we will deal with the station directly because we know that they will give us better value, they will give volume and the relationship will become better.”

To Mr. Agbede Niyi, representative of Media More agency, the interaction he had with the officials of the station was interesting because of some of the exciting programmes that they have disclosed.

Niyi however, advised that Rockcity FM to endeavour to be among radio stations that are located within the software programmes, adding that it easily spell out their ratings and most agencies could select them through such software.

He said: “The discussion was quite interesting. I spoke with one of the officials and she asked me some questions about our reactions to their station, which I said that it has been long that we used the station due to media software.”

“There is a software that we use in media, so if your station is not in that software we may not be able to place clients’ adverts on that station. It will be difficult because we may not be able to rationally defend our decision. But if Rockcity FM is on that software, the software will tell you their ratings within its region.”
