GFM awards Zenith Nigeria’s Best Bank for second year running
Global Finance Magazine has once again awarded Zenith Bank Plc Best Banks in Nigeria 2021. This makes the second consecutive year the bank will be winning the award.
The bank was among other banks from 35 countries in Africa recognised as the United States magazine announced its 28th Annual Best Bank Awards Winners in Africa.
In a statement by the Magazine, the editors said the selections was made after due consultations with corporate financial executives, bankers, banking consultants and analysts worldwide. According to the statement, the criteria for the selection included growth in assets, profitability, geographic reach, strategic relationships, new business development and innovation in products.
Speaking on the veracity and importance of the award, Joseph Giarraputo, Publisher and Editorial Director, Global Finance said, this year’s evaluations are more important and valuable than at any point in the 28-year history of the magazine due to the unprecedented economic conditions attendant upon the global Covid-19 pandemic.
“Banks are playing a key role in economic recovery around the world, and as such, our Best Bank awards highlight the leaders in restoring growth and mapping a way forward”, he averred.
Commenting on the recognition, Ebenezer Onyeagwu, Group Managing Director/Chief Executive, Zenith Bank said: “This award is a strong indication of our resilience despite a very excruciating macroeconomic environment exacerbated by the COVID 19 pandemic.”
