Marking its 125th anniversary with a reinvigorated logo and digital-forward approach, Pepsi is poised to captivate a new generation of consumers and continue its iconic journey into the future.
PepsiCo, the parent company, is also gearing up for 125 days of celebratory events coinciding with the public unveiling of products featuring its freshly redesigned logo in a bid to commemorate its iconic Cola brand.
This logo transformation was not taken lightly.
With careful consideration given to the brand’s touchpoints, including trucks, signage, vending machines, and more, which significantly reflects this innovative approach, Pepsi’s new logo is expected to resonate positively with audiences and elevate the brand’s overall appeal, and characterizes a digital-first mindset and a focus on products like Zero Sugar that align with evolving consumer preferences.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Adage, Pepsi’s Chief Marketing Officer, Todd Kaplan, delved into the significance of the brand’s anniversary and the implications of its fresh logo. Kaplan revealed that the logo’s modernity and vibrancy aims to attract and engage consumers in an increasingly digital world.
Kaplan also pointed to the emergence of a new era for Pepsi, characterized by a digital-first mindset and a focus on products like Zero Sugar that align with evolving consumer preferences. This digital era also sees the incorporation of more black into the logo’s visual identity, reflecting Pepsi’s commitment to Zero Sugar offerings.
The pinnacle of the anniversary celebrations is the forthcoming pop-up diner, which pays homage to the brand’s storied history and cultural impact. Diners, closely associated with pivotal Pepsi moments, have played a significant role in shaping the brand’s narrative.
This immersive experience aims to encapsulate Pepsi’s journey through iconic music, advertising, and culinary experiences, creating an Instagram-worthy spectacle at every turn.
One of the standout events on Pepsi’s celebration calendar is a pop-up diner scheduled to take place in New York City from October 19th to 25th. This immersive experience will recreate the iconic sets of some of Pepsi’s most memorable commercials, allowing visitors to relive nostalgia and explore the brand’s journey through time. The diner will showcase prized memorabilia from Pepsi’s archives, making it a must-see for fans and enthusiasts. Limited seating for this unique experience is available for $50 per person, while a contest offers five lucky winners a chance to partake in the festivities.
As the NFL season kicks off, Pepsi plans to unveil a series of energetic new commercials. These commercials, showcasing the pulsating properties of the brand’s new logo, will debut alongside the commencement of the anniversary celebrations. The brand is also set to give away free Pepsi beverages to consumers who text “PEPSI125” to 81234 on August 28th.
