The celebration culminated in a spectacular presentation of prizes to winners in the Ofala promo, drawing excitement and admiration from the community.

For 14 years, the telecom giant has consistently sponsored the prestigious festival, and this year, it once again energized the event by adding an exciting promotional layer to the traditional celebration.

Tradition Meets Celebration at Onitsha’s Ime Obi

The festival, held at the Ime Obi, Onitsha, featured two major ceremonies—the Iru Ofala on Friday and the Azu Ofala on Saturday—both marking the continuation of a time-honoured tradition cherished by the people of Onitsha.

During the Iru Ofala, the Obi of Onitsha made his first public appearance after a period of spiritual retreat.

his symbolic moment represented his readiness to usher in a new year of prosperity for his people.

The Imperial Majesty, resplendent in his traditional attire, graciously received homage from chiefs, titled men, and subjects, reinforcing the cultural grandeur of the event.

Dignitaries Grace the Occasion

The colourful event drew several high-profile guests. Among them were the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa; the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu; former Deputy Speaker, Emeka Ihedioha; former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi; and the Director General of the National Council for Arts and Culture, Obi Asika. Their presence further elevated the prestige of the 2025 Ofala Festival.

In his remarks, the Obi of Onitsha lauded Globacom’s unwavering partnership, saying, “We thank them for believing in us, and I trust that the mutual benefit that we all derive from the festival will continue to prevail.”

 

Glo Adds Excitement with Ofala Promo Finale

The grand finale, the Azu Ofala, became a vibrant community celebration and a day of thanksgiving.

During this climax, Globacom added a special touch of excitement by concluding its Ofala promo designed specifically for the Onitsha community.

The four-week-long promo produced several lucky winners, who received life-changing rewards.

The prizes included a brand-new Kia Picanto, two tricycles (Keke), power generating sets, and grinding machines—each symbolizing empowerment and shared prosperity.

 

Winners Celebrate Glo’s Generosity

Chidinma Esther Obi, a businesswoman from the 33 area of Onitsha, emerged as the grand prize winner of the Kia Picanto.

She received the car keys from Onitsha royal chief, Chief Albert Ibekwe (the Odu Osodi), alongside Globacom’s representative, Tochukwu Okechukwu.

In addition, Ibeziakor Onyebuchi Anthony and Ejike Chiememma Gloria each won a tricycle, while many others walked away with power generating sets and grinding machines.

Their joy illuminated the atmosphere, adding a tangible sense of happiness and fulfillment to the close of the 2025 Ofala Festival.
