Dentsu Nigeria commiserated with the entire management and staff of Marketing Edge – Nigeria’s leading brand and marketing communications publication – over the passing of its Founder and Publisher, Mr. John Ajayi, a pioneer of brand journalism in Nigeria, who passed on to glory on Wednesday 10th December, 2025.

The group, in a statement by Olalekan Raji, Corporate Communications Manager, Dentsu Nigeria, described Mr. Ajayi’s passing as a huge loss to the Nigerian advertising and marketing industry.

According to the statement, Mr. Ajayi was a true friend, ally and leader who was passionate about the development of the marketing communications industry.

The statement added that Mr. Ajayi left behind a legacy of unmatched impact and service to the industry. He was an instrumental pillar for the nation’s media and integrated marketing communications industry.

‎Mr. Ajayi, a respected journalist, media veteran, will be remembered as one of the most influential figures that have profoundly shaped the marketing communications industry.

Meanwhile, the Group Executive Chairman & CEO of Media-Fuse Dentsu Nigeria, Emeka Chris Okeke, in his personal tribute to Mr. Ajayi, described the late publisher as a man of honour and integrity whose career was dedicated to celebrating industry professionals, elevating industry standards, promoting excellence and innovation.

Mr. Ajayi had a bold vision exemplified in the way he led Marketing Edge and how the marketing communications media has evolved.

Emeka noted that Mr. Ajayi’s personality embodied trust, integrity in the media and marketing industry as well as respect for stakeholders across media, agency, corporate and the business community in Nigeria.

“He was a very calm man; he was disciplined and demonstrated true commitment to professional standards. Mr. Ajayi was a very calm and kind-hearted man. His demise has left a big vacuum in the industry. We will truly miss him.

“We pray for the eternal repose of his soul, that he may find rest and peace in the loving presence of God.
May the Lord console and strengthen the bereaved family and entire management and staff of Marketing Edge Media through and beyond this difficult times.”
