Meta unveils filters and backgrounds video for WhatsApp

Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, Instant Messaging (IM) and Voice-over-IP (VoIP) service has introduced filters and backgrounds for video calls to enhance users experience.
The latest features allow users to customize their appearance and surroundings during calls, adding a personal touch and making conversations more engaging.
Disclosing this in a blog post, the platform said the introduction of the new effects is to make video experience more engaging and fun for users.
With a variety of filters to choose from, it stated that users can create a playful atmosphere by adding color or artistic elements to their video. Backgrounds offer privacy and the ability to transport them to different locations, such as a cozy coffee shop or a comfortable living room.
The post reads, “Conversations on WhatsApp should always feel fun and expressive and today, we’re rolling out filters and backgrounds to make your video calls even more engaging. With these new effects, you can now change your background or add a filter during a video call for a more personal touch.
“Filters are designed to help you create a more playful atmosphere, whether that’s adding a splash of color or creating a more artistic feel for your video. With backgrounds, you can keep your surroundings private and transport yourself to a cozy coffee shop or comfortable living room for a more clean and polished look.”
The statement also added that with 10 filters and 10 backgrounds to choose from, users can select and mix a wide range of options to create a unique look. Filter options include Warm, Cool, Black & White, Light leak, Dreamy, Prism light, Fisheye, Vintage TV, Frosted glass and Duo tone. Background options include Blur, Living room, Office, Cafe, Pebbles, Foodie, Smoosh, Beach, Sunset, Celebration and Forest.
