In a strong vote of confidence in its creative excellence and capacity development impact, 02 Academy Lagos has emerged as  the second cohorts of one of the centres for the Federal Government’s Innovation, Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS–TVET) Training Programme, powered by the Federal Ministry of Education in collaboration with the World Bank.

So,  to redefine Nigeria’s creative economy, 02 Academy has joined forces with the Federal Government to train 100 young Nigerians in AI-powered filmmaking and digital storytelling.

Meanwhile, the collaboration, under the IDEAS–TVET Project, aims to equip participants with next-generation skills that blend creativity and technology, preparing them for opportunities in the fast-evolving global content industry.

It is against this backdrop that, the  official flag-off ceremony took place on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at 02 Academy Lagos, marking yet another significant milestone in the national initiative aimed at empowering young Nigerians with future-ready skills for the evolving creative economy.

Driving Skills for the Future

Through this partnership, 02 Academy will train 100 unemployed youths in AI Filmmaking and Mobile Content Creation, providing them with essential digital storytelling capabilities to enhance employability and entrepreneurial potential.

Again, this  six-month training will include three months of hands-on instruction followed by three months of internship with creative industry partners, ensuring both theoretical and practical exposure.

Federal Government’s Commitment to Employability

Also, speaking at the event, Blessing Osahon-Osemwota, Project Program Officer representing Mrs. Blessing Ogwu, IDEAS National Project Coordinator, explained that the initiative aims to bridge the unemployment gap by equipping young Nigerians with market-relevant skills, stipends, and starter packs. She revealed that the IDEAS–TVET project plans to train over 75,000 unemployed or underemployed youths nationwide.

“This initiative, under the supervision of the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, is focused on training, certification, and employment,” she stated. “Each trainee will receive stipends and starter packs during the programme, while the Federal Government remains committed to ensuring every participant becomes employable or self-employed.”

Furthermore, she emphasised that 02 Academy was selected from over 500 training service providers across Nigeria after a rigorous evaluation process. “Emerging as part of this second cohort shows how highly the Academy is regarded at the national level. It is a clear recognition that 02 Academy is truly doing well,” she added.

Furthermore, in her welcome address, Angela Udomeh, Head of Operations at 02 Academy, described the programme as a defining moment for Nigeria’s youth. “Today marks the beginning of a journey that represents hope, innovation, and empowerment. Through this training, we will equip 100 brilliant young Nigerians with practical tools in AI filmmaking and mobile content creation,” she said.

She continued, “We are proud to be part of this national effort to build a generation of skilled, employable, and industry-ready creatives. Our goal is not just to train but to help shape the future of storytelling, media, and innovation in Nigeria.”

Preparing Youths for the Fourth Industrial Revolution

Also speaking, Ucher Ozor, Associate Provost at 02 Academy, noted that the initiative aligns with the Academy’s mission to help young Nigerians find their place in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, driven by artificial intelligence. “AI is not here to replace us; it is here to remind us how powerful our ideas can be,” he said.

He further revealed that several brands are already showing interest in recruiting interns from the programme due to their anticipated expertise in AI filmmaking and content creation.

Endorsement from Industry Veterans

Adding his voice, Dr. Victor Okai, past President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, praised the initiative, describing it as a catalyst for growth in Nigeria’s creative sector. “This collaboration between the Federal Government and 02 Academy will have a ripple effect of immense benefits,” he remarked. “AI is a leveler, giving our young creators the ability to compete globally without being limited by access to expensive equipment. The Academy already has a proven track record, and with this programme, the outcomes will be exceptional.”

A Step Toward Inclusive Economic Growth

Consequently, the IDEAS–TVET Training Programme forms a key component of the Nigerian Youth Employment and Skills Acquisition Fund (NYESAF), supported by the World Bank.

It is designed to provide technical and vocational education that fosters employability, encourages innovation, and promotes inclusive economic growth.

With this partnership, 02 Academy continues to reinforce its reputation as one of Nigeria’s foremost creative institutions transforming passion into purpose, and ideas into sustainable opportunities for the nation’s youth.
