Black at Cannes files lawsuit against JPMorgan Chase & Co for alleged racial profiling

In a recent development, Peter Ukhurebor, the founder of Black at Cannes, has filed a lawsuit against JPMorgan Chase & Co, one of the largest banking institutions in the United States.

The lawsuit alleges that the bank exhibited racial profiling and failed to provide sufficient and reliable business support to Black at Cannes, an organization dedicated to promoting inclusivity for Black professionals in the advertising industry.

According to the Black at Cannes Founder, JPMorgan Chase & Co declined a transaction without following due process, despite the organization providing the necessary documentation to release funds from their account.

Ukhurebor expressed his disappointment in a LinkedIn post, stating that this incident was indicative of the challenges faced by Black-owned businesses in America. He firmly believes that success should not be hindered by those who feel threatened by the growth of Black-owned enterprises.

JPMorgan Chase & Co, led by chairman and CEO James Dimon, has yet to publicly respond to the allegations.

Black at Cannes aims to increase Black representation in the advertising industry on a global scale.

The organization provides educational resources and a platform for building connections among Black professionals, with a specific focus on increasing their presence at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

The recently concluded 70th Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity not only showcased an array of exceptional activities but also shed a spotlight on diversity and inclusivity within the advertising industry, with a prominent presence by Black at Cannes.

Since its establishment in 2022, Black at Cannes has been dedicated to advocating for equal representation and opportunities for black creatives by providing a valuable platform for black creatives and vendors to demonstrate their skills, connect with industry professionals, and establish meaningful relationships.
